dreams

I keep forgetting to type this, but the Doctor-Mister keeps reminding me. The other night I had a dream that Georgie and I had to go around singing Christmas Carols together, or else Christmas would be cancelled.

I wish I remembered more of the dream! That sounds awesome-cringey.

Back! Backish!

Well, Georgie and I are fit and on the road to recovery! During our languish in bed period, we watched 21 Jump Street, Love My Way, way too many cheesy Russ Meyers films. I am really not one for tv, but I have to say, I LOVE watching DVDs in bed, especially if I am FORCED to be there, and can be all cosy and warm with NO GUILT that I should be doing something else. George loves it too (he is sometimes allowed on the bed, especially if I am feeling sorry for myself).

We finished Press Gang a few weeks ago and I have to say... I hadn't seen all of season 4 and 5 before and I am kind of disappointed. The show really went downhill and was kind of farcical and slap stick and it didn't work. No it did not!

Doctor-mister and I saw Clerks 2 at the cinema and we didn't enjoy that either. I am now temporarily BANNED from making film choices. If you can recommend a good film to us, please let us know!

Now on to George Love, it's all back to business. Everyone should be receiving orders ok and on time (there was no lull or delay in that), we are back to work getting things organised. We had a cute afternoon and chat with lovely Liz Jones and her dog Chester from Betty Jo Designs in her studio about all the wonderful things she likes and makes. You can read that now.

Other Georgie news on the cards at the moment, new artists (of course), a market stall in Melbourne in time for Christmas, and the annual vaccination injections for Georgie. Uh. Well, he thinks it's important.

Take care of yourselves and get some sun today!

under the weather

Sally and Georgie are a little under the weather, hence the quiet for the past few days! We are lying around in bed, sulking, and watching episodes of 21 Jump Street, doing random searches on the colour green on ebay and not doing much work at all.... Orders are still being processed and sent out, our lovely man has been making regular trips to the post office (as well as to the chemist and to the fridge), so it's all okay...

More to come when we are back on our feet. Sorry for the delays in updating!

Today is another Tuesday

Ok, this is in a rush, I am sleepy, hayfeverish, ridiculously excited about our new washing machine and concerned about an odd rash all over my arms that developed today(?).

HOWEVER, despite all of that self pitying lameness, I FINALLY have put Wendy June's beautiful art badges up on Georgie Love (with more to come!)...also the artist profile with s will be up TOMORROW, and there is more exciting things to come (new purses, journals, clothing and more!)... just you wait!

We've also made the decision to not stock Kooky Spooks. We absolutely LOVE Fleur, the Kooks and what she is doing, but the toys are designed, but not made, locally. Sorry to all Kooky Spooks fans who were excited about Georgie Love stocking her goodies. They ARE however available from Fleur's site - http://www.kookyspooks.com, so head over there.

Other than that, check us out at myspace and come say hello!

oh, and ... is that a storm rolling in? Yay!

Hmm... against my better judgement, you can now find us on myspace!

Two of Georgie Love's artists are involved in exhibitions at the moment, that you should both know about and check out!

Textile Artist Melanie Hill is featured at Steps Gallery (62 Lygon Street, Carlton North) as a part of the HURRAH! Group.

HURRAH! is a group of artists who work in a diverse variety of mediums. Formed 14 years ago, the group exhibit bi-annually. HURRAH! 2006 is the group's seventh show, continuing to exhibit their established high standard of contemporary textiles.

Come and see work by Nola Bailey, Sally Darlison, Melanie Hill, Wanda McPherson, Marilyn Townsend, Gabriella Verstraeten and Alison Withers.

Amy Jade makes beautiful handmade journals on Georgie Love, but her real passion is ceramics. She is a part of the Connect_5 exhibition, an exhibition of recent ceramic works by a collective of five young Melbourne ceramicists. It is at the 4 Cats gallery (269 Johnston Street, Abbotsford) from 19 September to 14 OCtober, Tuesdat to Saturday 11am - 6pm.

Weekendies

Today I woke up all snug and warm in the dark and thought: "yay! it's the weekend, I am so going back to sleep"... and then it HIT ME. It's only Friday. I then looked at my clock and it was 5:59 - exactly one minute before my alarm was due to go off. Heart-wrenchingly AWFUL!

In good news, in the next week all kinds of new things are going to be on Georgie Love! I have 3 new artists up my sleeve, the quirky KOOKY SPOOKS (I have everything I need to pop them up, apart from time, hopefully that is going to happen shortly) and two other artists I am still talking to and hope to have them soon. Both I have been a big fan of for a while and am excited that they will be COMING ON BOARD. More details as they happen!

Ok, so this weekend the mister and I are getting in the little salmobile and driving all the way up to Albury and back again. I will be OUT OF CONTACT from 2pm today until Sunday afternoon. I will respond to all Georgie Love questions then.

In the meantime, big, fat george is staying at his grandparent's place, where he will be spoilt, overfed, walked twice a day and spend his time sitting around sulking by the front door and window, waiting for our return.

Have a good weekend folks!

hooray!

A fabulous new blog showcasing Australian and New Zealand Designers called Moda Muse has been busy and have noted Georgie Love amongst their pages (thank you!). The ladies behind the blog are also the lovely, creative ladies behind Wild Garden Design, who make beautiful and delicate t-shirts and singlets (and funky things for men and the kiddies too!).

Here at Georgie Love, we gladly say "Hooray for Australian Design!" (or in George's language "Woooof... Aroooooooo").

Another thing we are fond of today is NEET magazine,a funky UK, online mag who are featuring the Love of Georgie.
As some kind of crazy experiment, or maybe necessity, I have finally been forced to include POSTAGE to Australia. 99% of things I send out cost $3.70 (I probably overwrap rather than underwrap little things), so I have added flat rate postage of $3.50 in Australia... Which isn't $3.70, but I am weird and like nice even, round, chubby numbers.

I woke up at 4am this morning and didn't go back to sleep, so I feel a little wooooooozy today. I don't think I woke up cause I was stressed, there was just an inexplicable puddle in the bathroom, and being the freak I am, couldn't sleep until it was all cleaned... (note that I didn't necessarily say be me, thank you doctor) and then I was awake and cranky..... it's now 11am and I am awakeish, but still cranky. ;-)

I think I will take a big stroll around the Carlton Gardens during lunch in the sunshine. Yay! Although the sun isn't out good and proper yet... I'll give it another hour.

Last things on a Sunday

It's been a funny ol' weekend. Very, very tired on Friday night and feeling a little sorry for myself, so I convinced the mister that we should watch an animal movie. See, I am a thirty year old, tough cookie(ish), with a secret passion for animal movies and documentaries (particularly about animals). They make me cry and happy all at once. Anyway, on Friday we watched the somewhat lame but entertaining 8 below. The essence of the story was about 8 dogs who survived almost 6 months (152 days) in antartica, fending for themselves.

I was tempted to do an experiment of leaving Georgie in the backyard on his own with a video camera, but by the time we get to 152 SECONDS, the poor dog would be chewing on his own leg out of hunger and desperation. He was not made for the outdoors. Or anywhere where snacks are not available on demand.

Sorry George, but it's true. As far as dogs go, you are LAME! Don't give me that look.

Okay, please excuse my reluctant male model, but I have awesome new t-shirts on Georgie Love from Embryo Graphics, paper packs from Applehead now for sale and almost, almost have Blythe's jewellery online too. It's been a busy weekend...

I don't know if I will get this all finished by tonight, but I have taken photos of Blythe's work, am editing it now and hope to post it online tomorrowish... This is a sneak preview of her quirky-cool recycled stamps and resin pieces.

It's nearly 5pm, so too late for an afternoon nap, but alas the weekend is OVER. :-( Hope you all had a good one.

Yay Spring!

Oh lordy, is that the sun? And could it be the WEEKEND?

I am ignoring the fact I have 3 photo shoots to do over the weekend, the sun is going to hide and it will probably end up raining and I have a ton of chasing things up to do, it's the weekend man! Hooray!

I am scheduling in 8 hours for sheer laziness... Oh shut up... at least 4. Ok, if I am caught dozing for half an hour on the couch, don't wake me, ok? ZzzzZzzzzz

(ps: you have also just discovered why I sell art, rather than make it!)
