sad

I was in the local bakery today waiting for a coffee and a very stylish old lady came up to me and started stroking Ruby's head and commenting what a beautiful baby she was. She said to me:
"I never married and never had any children, I imagine it's the most beautiful thing in the world.... is it?"
I told her the truth. "Yes".

The whole thing made me terribly sad. She left before I did, otherwise I would have joined her and put Ruby in her lap.

Oh, how sad! Regret is a terribly sad thing.

Hopefully she'll be there next time you go, and you'll be able to put Ruby on her lap.

you know before I had Max I tried but couldn't imagine just how overwhelmingly amazing the connection would be between us. It really is heartbreakingly sad to hear the lilt of regret in this woman's voice. Women my age were told we could have it all but many of us found out late that nature runs to a different time schedule. I wish she hadn't left before you so she could have had the lovely Ruby sit smiling and happy in her lap for a little while.

it is a love like no other... and I use to cringe a bit when I heard people say that before I had Busy... now I get it... it is so random the way some people get to have one and some don't...and some get a sick one and some don't...and some get one for a little while...and some don't...

So sad, but I am sure your little Rubes touched her - and seeing you two love bugs made her happy.

Perhaps you'll see her again? You never know!

Beautiful photo you two.

you are the sweetest to feel for that woman rather than haul off and scream at her for touching your baby (like a lot of mamas i know would...) you've got a wonderful heart for all, not just beautiful babies. xoxo
